DDGipsy

A dino-droid of Gipsy.

Dino-droids are mechanical dinosaurs that Attila uses for scouting and military purposes. They can either appear as exact replicas of the dinosaur or other creature they are pretending to be or as their true forms-deadly robotic creatures made of metal or wool that have hidden weapons in their bodies and spinning red eyes. All dino-droids can talk and seem to be capable of a basic level of self-thought, but do not have complete free will and can be reprogrammed.

They are made by taking the memories and beliefs of the subject, replicating them, and placing the copy in a dino-droid's computer "brain" so that they know how to act like the creature they are pretending to be. Unlike real dinosaurs, they run on Robotix oil as they are machines, not living things. All dino-droids are weak to the chemical Mega-Spray Y and high-pitched sounds, which cause them to melt or explode.

In Day of the Dino-Droids, Attila created robots that impersonated Admiral Rosso, Gipsy, Arx, Iggy, and Teggs which he intended to use to sabotage a Pick-a-Planet meeting and destroy both the Vegetarian Sector and the Carnivore Sector. The Gipsy-droid had missiles in its head, the Iggy-droid's claws sprayed sparks like stun claws, the Arx-droid could spray poisonous gas, and the Teggs-droid had a rocket launcher hidden in its tail. The Rosso-droid was able to use its head like a club. However, the real astrosaurs used a jamming device to reveal that they were really dino-droids and captured Attila.

The FANG

Later, in Revenge of the FANG, three more dino-droids pretended to be Dasta, Tonka, and King Albu and, with Attila, made up an evil group known as the FANG. Teggs and his friend Damona managed to use some Mega-Spray Y to destroy the droids and catch Attila. It is unknown how Attila was able to acquire the trio's memories, since Tonka and Dasta had been jailed while Albu was dead, showing that this may be optional in their construction and only aids in increasing the realism of the robots. Attila also created a droid of himself to take his place in prison, showing that a subject can make a droid using their own memories as well as someone else's. It isn't certain whether Attila invented dino-droids or perfected them - Commodore Kallos the segnosaurus also used a dino-droid to escape from jail in the Astrosaurs Academy series, set well before Teggs encountered Attila.

Trivia[]

  • Dino-droids seem to be based on the concept of androids, humanlike robots that are often used as characters in science fiction stories.
